Conquering the English language..one sound at a time!

Brennan is expanding his repertoire of sounds and noises. In addition to mastering vowel sounds, he now enjoys gurgling, attempting to blow raspberries, and making "hm", "b", and "um" sounds..just to name a few! He is also giggling, which is adorable! We've been able to capture his raspberries with the camera...check it out!

3 Months Old!

Our little boy is three months old! He's growing up so fast! His favorite activities are talking, laughing, and smiling. He also enjoys playing on his activity mat, spending time outside, and exploring the world around him. He sleeps through the night and is beginning to take an afternoon nap in addition to his cat naps throughout the day. He's such a happy, wonderful, amazing little man!

We recently took a trip down memory lane...our wonderful friends Sara and Jim welcomed their little boy, Paxton, on April 15. We're so thrilled for them! After visiting the new family, Adam and I recalled our journey thus far with Brennan---late night feedings, tiny snuggles, newborn noises, first smiles...What an incredible journey it has been! And we've only just begun!

Brennan is very popular at the babysitter's house. Miss Tracy explains that the other kids love to play and talk with him and Brennan talks and smiles in return. One little boy expressed that he wants to take Brennan home. Sorry, kid...he's ours!

Mr. Smiles

Brennan continues to amaze us every day! It's incredible to watch him grow and learn!

He's becoming quite the talker and smiler. He'll smile at everything...Daddy, Mommy, Miss Tracy (babysitter), pictures on the wall, ceiling fans, and anything else in his view. He enjoys having conversations, especially when you mimic the sounds that he makes. He also likes to talk and smile during diaper changes-a great improvement from his previous cries and screams!

He's also able to roll over onto his side. We haven't seen him roll in a few days, but he did it about half a dozen times one evening last week.

I've been weary to post about his recent sleeping habits in fear that it was just a fluke, but he's had the same pattern for over 2 weeks, so I think it's safe. Brennan is able to sleep for up to 9-11 hours overnight! He's been going to sleep between 8-9pm and I've had to wake him at 6:30am most mornings to eat and leave for work! He's still not a regular napper during the day, but is beginning to have at least one "long" nap (1 hour) each day.

Brennan is making it clear that he's not a performer. It never seems to fail...as soon as we pull out the camera to take a picture or video, he stops his smiles/coos/etc. We had several picture/video moments tonight. As soon as I turned on the camera, he stopped. It wasn't even in front of him, yet! Then, as soon as the camera was off, he resumed! What a stinker!

Happy Easter!

Over the River and Through the Woods, Part 2

We traveled to Salem this weekend to visit with Adam's parents! Brennan met more of his family and enjoyed his time there. During our past two weekends of traveling we've noticed that Brennan loves spending time with friends and family, but takes a bit of time to adjust to his new surroundings. Also, while he has fun visiting other places, he's always happy to be home!

Back to the Grind

I returned to work this week and Brennan spent his days at the babysitter's house. It was a good week to return--school was closed on Tuesday due to heavy fog; my parents, sister, and niece came to visit and spent the day with Brennan at home on Thursday; and I was off on Friday for spring break. Brennan did well at the babysitter's and it was a little less difficult to leave him each day...not easy, but less difficult. Luckily, I'm very busy at work, which helps the days go by quickly.
